The difference between internal climbing tower crane and external supporting wall climbing tower crane

The difference between internal climbing tower crane and external supporting wall climbing tower crane   1. Use scenarios and structural characteristics ·‌Internal climbing tower crane: Usually arranged inside the building, such as in the elevator shaft or stairwell. It gradually climbs upward with the progress of construction, does not occupy the outer space of the building, and is particularly suitable for narrow projects on site. The tower body of the internal climbing tower crane is shorter, covering the inside of the building, the crane arm can be shorter, and the lifting performance is fully utilized. ·‌External supporting wall climbing tower crane: Attached to the outside of the building, the construction gap is used through the attachment and jacking process, which has little impact on the construction progress. The tower body of the external supporting wall climbing tower crane is longer, covering the outside of the building, and is suitable for projects that require a larger coverage area.   2. Advantages and disadvantages ·‌Internal climbing tower crane: ‌Advantages‌: It does not occupy the construction site and is suitable for narrow projects on site; there is no need to lay tracks and make reinforced concrete foundations, the construction preparation is simple, and the cost is saved; only a small number of standard sections are required, and the one-time investment is small. ·Disadvantages: The entire load is borne by the building, and the building structure needs to be strengthened, which increases the cost of the building; the climbing must be coordinated with the construction progress and can only be carried out during construction breaks; the tower crane driver cannot directly see the lifting process and needs signal command; the disassembly after the construction is completed is complicated and requires auxiliary equipment. ·External support wall climbing tower crane: Advantages: The building only bears the horizontal load transmitted by the tower crane, and the construction impact is small; the driver can see the entire lifting process and the operation is safe; the disassembly is convenient and is the reverse process of the installation. ·Disadvantages: It occupies the outer space of the building; the attachment and jacking process requires additional time and manpower.   3. Applicable scenarios ·Internal climbing tower crane: It is suitable for projects with narrow sites, such as urban renovation and expansion projects. Because it does not occupy the outer space, it is particularly suitable for construction environments in urban centers or limited space. ·External support wall climbing tower crane: It is suitable for projects that require a large coverage area, especially when there is enough space for attachment and jacking operations on the construction site.

Types of tower cranes

Tower cranes are divided into the following types: Topkit Tower Crane The typical for topkit tower crane is it with tower head and connet working jib and counter-jib by pull rods. The structure are stable. The type of tower crane cost is cheaper than other types. Hammerhead or Flat top Tower Crane In the hammer head crane, a long horizontal jib is attached to a vertical tower. One end of the jib extends horizontally at the workplace, while the other end has balance weights. This type of tower crane typically requires a second crane to assemble and disassemble parts at the workplace. Self-erecting Tower Cranes Self-erecting or self-assembling tower cranes can be assembled on site alone without the need for a second crane. This advantage will be very important in reducing launching time and project costs. Self-erected tower cranes are often remotely controlled from the ground. These types of towers are usually independent and can be equipped to move around the workplace. Luffing Jib Tower Crane In tight urban spaces, there is usually not enough space to rotate the jib. Luffing jib tower cranes are used for such spaces. While most tower cranes have a fixed horizontal jib, the operator can raise or lower a luffing jib to allow the crane to be reduced in radius. A luffing jib does not use an electric wagon, but raises and lowers the jib if needed for lifts closer to the tower. Due to the complexity of these types of cranes, luffing cranes are expensive and can only be used when absolutely needed.
